We are working hard in year 3!  no

The children have been extremely busy this term. They have worked so well over the past weeks and we are really proud of them. They have settled so well even though we have had building works going on in school and have moved classrooms.

We began this term with our History topic – The Ancient Egyptians. Our work in other subjects linked to this topic. Our Art and English further enhanced this topic. We have also looked at volcanoes in Geography and carried out some exciting experiments to show how a volcano erupts. In science we have enjoyed studying Rocks and now we are learning about Forces and Magnets.

Events we have celebrated have been:

  • Poetry Day
  • Creating our own Egyptian Masks
  • Basketball/Gymnastics
  • Being Programmers in Computing

We have lots of events to look forward to:

  • Making our own volcanoes
  • Writing our own Mythical stories
  • Parliament week
  • Children in Need

Homework

Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned before the following Wednesday.

When homework is returned your child will receive raffle tickets.

Spellings will also be sent home. Please help your child to learn their spellings. We will be asking your child to spell these words throughout the week.

A reading task and words to find the meaning of will be sent home every week.

Reading books will be sent home on a Friday. Please listen to your child read and ask questions about what they have read. In their book bag, there is a reading record to fill in. Books should be returned when they are finished and will be replaced.

Please make sure your child's PE kit is in school. These can remain in school until half term.
