Welcome to Year 5!
The Year 5 children have once again been very busy these past couple of weeks. We have been reading and performing many more poems in English, showing off our mathematical skills by estimating and adding with 6 digit numbers and testing water resistance and up thrust in Science.
On Wednesday, we had visitors in from the HMRC to teach us all about paying tax and where that money is spent. It was very interesting!
In Art, we have begun to make our mosaics using polystyrene, tile adhesive and mosaic tiles. They are looking great so far.
Upcoming events to look forward to are:
Homework will be given out on a Monday and is due back in on Friday. This is to allow the children and their families to enjoy the weekend together.
We would like to remind you that when homework is returned you have a chance of wining rewards and prizes in Homeworkopoly.
Spelling Homework will also be sent home. Please help your child to learn their spellings. We will be asking your child to spell these words throughout the week.
Reading books will be sent home on a Monday. Please listen to your child read and ask questions about what they have read. In their book bag, there is a reading record to fill in. Books should be returned when they are finished and will be replaced.
Year 5 will have PE on a Wednesday and a Friday.
Please make sure your child's PE kit is in school. These can remain in school until half term.
Each child should have a water bottle in class at all times.
