At Hunts Cross Primary school we believe that to fully understand the world around them our pupils should learn from and about religion. Religious Education helps pupils to develop their knowledge of different faiths, and their understanding and awareness of the beliefs, values and traditions of other individuals, communities and cultures.
It is our intent that Religious Education will engage, inspire, challenge and encourage pupils; equipping them with the skills and knowledge to answer challenging questions about different religious beliefs, values and traditions that are followed in our multi-cultural society.
Religious Education is taught throughout the school from Reception through to Year 6. In Reception it is delivered flexibly according to the statutory requirements of the EYFS. At Key Stage 1 and 2, children spend approximately 40 minutes weekly on Religious Education. These minimum time requirements include visits and RE curriculum days, and does not include school productions related to festivals, assemblies or collective worship.
Monitoring of Religious Education takes place through the schools monitoring cycle which includes observations and discussions with teaching staff, pupil voice, floor book monitoring and RE displays throughout school.
