Year 5 Autumn 1 2020
A huge welcome back to all of you and welcome to Year 5! It's been such a long time since we have seen so many of you face to face and of course we have all missed our friends and school life! There are many things to look forward to- including some exciting new topics.
School may look slightly different when you are back as you will be in your class bubbles. You will have a different break and lunch time to other children BUT both Year 5 classes will be on the playground at the same time so you can give each other a wave from across the yard! You must use stationary in class provided for by school and it must stay on YOUR desk. Everybody will be facing the front but you will be sitting next to someone! You will also be eating lunch in class. Lots of handwashing and making sure we are wiping our own areas clean.
Routines and Homework
You will have PE every Friday and must come into school in your PE. Remember to wear you school jumper or cardigan over it and a coat if it is cold. You will receive homework every Monday and it should be returned by Friday of the same week. The homework will be:
-Times table practice
You will also be given two reading books. One will be a levelled book to help improve your reading fluency and one will be a reading for pleasure book. You should be reading something- even just a paragraph every night will help improve your fluency. Remember that the more you read, the more you know, and the more you know, the more places you'll go!!!
Our Vehicle text in English is 'FArTHER'. Have you ever heard of it? It is very important that you keep up your basic skills by reading as much as possible and practising your grammar, punctuation and spellings. Also the more that you practise your times tables, the quicker you will be able to access other areas of math. We will be looking at place value, addition and subtraction and statistics this half term.

We hope that you enjoy this year!
